CRPA Basic Pistol Shooting
The Basic Pistol Shooting class is for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience. The class teaches the students how to safely handle, store, aim, shoot, and hit your target. The class also includes information about California laws which can be very confusing.
We will have a practice session in the classroom using safe Airsoft pistols. They do not shoot bullets or BB’s, just a laser beam so there is no risk of injury. The guns are the same size and operate the same as a real pistol. We then go to a shooting range to shoot a real gun. When the class is over, you will feel comfortable and safe owning and shooting a gun!

The Basics of Pistol Shooting class is for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience. The Pistol Shooting Basics class educates students in safe firearm handling and operation with a California specific focus on responsible gun ownership. This course presents the most up-to-date and straightforward training and information. It is for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience. Students receive direct instruction from a CRPA/NRA Certified instructor from beginning to end. The class starts with gun safety, your right to own guns and the responsibilities that come with gun ownership, gun storage and hygiene, types of handguns, how handguns and ammunition work, gun failures and what to do, how to properly aim and hold your gun so you hit your target, how to select the gun that fits and serves your needs best, cleaning and maintaining your gun and opportunities to advance and improve your shooting skills.
This course also includes a laser simulator session practicing what you learned in the classroom. The simulated guns supplied are identical in size, shape and operation as Glock and Sig Sauer handguns. They also have reduced recoil so you learn how control the gun when it goes “bang”. They do not shoot bullets, just a laser beam so there is no risk of injury. If the student desires, a trip to a shooting range to shoot a real gun can be arranged. Qualification at a shooting range is required if the student intends to take more advanced classes.
At the conclusion of the course, students will feel comfortable and safe owning and shooting a gun and know how to continue advancing their gun skills and knowledge. Students will receive the CRPA Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook and a course completion certificate that allows them to take more advanced classes.
