The class educates students in safe firearm handling and operation with a California specific focus on responsible gun ownership. This course presents the most up-to-date and straightforward training and information. It is for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience. Students receive direct instruction from a CRPA/NRA Certified instructor from beginning to end. The class starts with gun safety, your right to own guns and the responsibilities that come with gun ownership, gun storage and hygiene, types of handguns, how handguns and ammunition work, gun failures and what to do, how to properly aim and hold your gun so you hit your target, how to select the gun that fits and serves your needs best, cleaning and maintaining your gun and opportunities to advance and improve your shooting skills.
At the conclusion of the course, students will feel comfortable and safe owning and shooting a shotgun and know how to continue advancing their gun skills and knowledge. Students will receive the CRPA Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook and a course completion certificate that allows them to take more advanced classes.
