RSO’s (Range Safety Officers) keep the gun world going round and round. They keep the competitions, training classes, exhibitions, any event that uses guns for fun, recreation, and training SAFE! In many ways, that makes the RSO class the most important class there is. Some RSO’s watch a single firing line and others (Chief RSO’s) watch the entire range. RSO’s can usually be identified by their red shirt and hat that says RSO.
The job of the RSO is to make sure everyone on the line and on the range is conducting themselves in a safe manner. The RSO’s concern is not whether the shooters are hitting the target, but whether they are handling their guns safely and properly and following the particular range’s rules. The rules to be followed are CRPA/NRA standardized rules PLUS rules specific to the range. The rules specific to the range reflect the characteristics specific to that range. This class will teach you how that works and how to help a range write their rules to make their range as safe as possible.
This class teaches you how to perform the RSO job.
