Basic Rifle Shooting – Like all of the Basic Gun Shooting classes, the CRPA/NRA Basic Rifle Shooting class is for people who have never shot a rifle, want a refresher, or feel like they need to learn more about rifles. In this class you learn the safety rules for all guns, how to safely store and handle a rifle, the parts of the rifle and how they operate. You’ll also learn about the most common types of rifles, shooting positions and how to zero a rifle.
You also learn about rifle ammunition (aka, cartridge) and the components used to make a cartridge. You will learn about the three types of malfunctions and how to handle them. We will teach you how to safely load, aim, fire, and unload the rifle and how to clean it at the end of a day of shooting. And we will teach you the proper way to aim a rifle so you can reliably hit the target. We also talk about shooting range rules and then go to a shooting range where you will be able to test your knowledge. A lever action and bolt action rifle along with ammunition will be provided.
Remember this is a no pressure class and it will be a lot of fun. You will hear about ways to develop your rifle shooting skills and the next steps to becoming a marksman. This is a comprehensive course about rifles and will give you a head start in whatever area of rifle shooting you decide to pursue – hunting, competition, protection, or whatever.
On successful completion, students will receive a certificate stating that fact. And as with all our classes, special attention is paid to California ownership concerns. You will have a lot of fun, learn a lot, and do it with other like-minded people.
