Detailed PTI Situational Awareness and Home Hardening Course Description
Have you heard the saying, “You win every fight you don’t have?” In this class we emphasize the necessity of being aware of what is going on around us. We discuss predator’s mindset and how you can spot him, what steps you can take to avoid and discourage him, when you need to initiate defensive measures and what kind or response. Students are taught strategies that can be used in everyday life to avoid the predator, and if you can’t, what to do. The strategies presented can be used at home, walking around town, on the road, when travelling, at work, and more.
In the second half of the course, we talk about ways to make our homes safer and less attractive to would-be bad actors. We discuss landscaping, lights, windows and doors, mental preparation for the entire family, security systems, dogs, and practicing ahead of time just in case a bad actor tries to break in, steal, do harm or worse. We discuss a safe room, what it is and how to use it. And no, it is not a room with steel-lined walls and a bank vault door!
Students will receive a copy of the CRPA Guide to Personal Awareness and other materials.
This class talks about what you never want to happen, but know you need to be prepared to handle.
